Trust downgraded for racism, bullying and ‘fragmented’ nurse leadership

Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust has been downgraded by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) due to staff concerns about racism, bullying, and being ignored by leaders. CQC inspectors found ‘fragmented’ nursing leadership, leadership gaps and poor accountability. Despite some praise, the trust’s leadership was rated as ‘requires improvement’. The trust’s interim chief executive apologised, acknowledging failures and committed to improving an ‘inclusive workplace’ culture and support for staff facing discrimination and harassment.
