Are Scotland’s NHS nurses now better off than others in the UK?

The NHS pay deal of 2023 included non-pay-related reforms for nurses in Scotland in three areas: a shorter working week, protected learning time and reviews of band 5 roles, with possible reassessment up to band 6 and pay to match. In this progress report we speak to nurses in Scotland about how these changes are working in practice and whether these hard-won benefits are making a difference to their lives.
