Highly regarded chief nurse was fatally injured by kick from horse

Sam Young, who was the interim chief nursing officer at the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital (RJAH) in Oswestry, Shropshire, died from a haemothorax after being kicked in the chest by a horse she was leading at a stable, an inquest on 2 October found. The coroner recorded a conclusion of accidental death. Colleagues have remembered Ms Young for her dedication to patient care and being ‘kind, fun and compassionate’.
