Nurses’ bravery praised after they save man from chip-pan fire

District nurses Paula Phillips and Karen Davies acted fast when confronted with a kitchen fire while making a routine visit to 89-year-old Rhys Bevan. Ms Davies covered the burning chip pan with a damp towel and took it outside, while Ms Phillips called the fire service. Mr Bevan’s daughter said the nurses’ bravery saved her father’s life, while their employer, Aneurin Bevan University Health Board, was ‘incredibly proud of them’, saying ‘this is a powerful example of the vital role our district nurses play’
