Nurse died after mental health support was repeatedly withheld

Coroner says it is difficult to understand why community mental health services repeatedly declined to offer support to nurse Victoria Taylor, 34, whose body was found in the River Derwent near Malton, North Yorkshire, in 2024. Despite repeated contact with healthcare services as her situation deteriorated, Ms Taylor was not offered support from community mental health services, an inquest into her death heard. Ms Taylor's family said failures in her care were not isolated incidents, but part of a wider pattern of systemic neglect and under-resourcing in mental health services. The coroner says she will write to Tees, Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust to express her concerns.
