‘Graduate guarantee’ promises jobs for newly registered nurses

A new ‘graduate guarantee’ scheme announced by the government aims to unlock vacancies by allowing trusts to employ newly registered nurses before vacancies formally arise. Details of the scheme – and information about how it will be funded – have not yet been outlined, but it is thought it will open up thousands of posts to graduates who have been struggling to find NHS roles due to recruitment freezes. Nurse leaders, who have tentatively welcomed the plan, give their responses.
