Jailed nurse defrauded NHS trust of £72k with false bank shifts
Former mental health nurse Dean Armitage has been jailed for 18 months after being paid over £72,000 in wages and holiday pay for bank shifts he did not do. An investigation by Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust local counter fraud specialist team found that the shifts – which were mainly higher paying night shifts – did not raise suspicions sooner because they were created retrospectively and did not appear on rotas.
