NHS managers guilty of misconduct could be barred from other roles

NHS managers who have committed misconduct will no longer be able to take up other senior roles in the health service if reforms go ahead. Plans to regulation managers will aim to weed out poor leadership, ‘slam the door’ on unsuitable managers’, the government said. Health and social care secretary Wes Streeting believes regulation will prevent sacked managers re-entering the NHS and create ‘a culture of honesty and openness in the NHS where whistleblowers are protected’. Parliament will consider the proposed change in the law.
