No jobs for new nurses: final-year nursing students stage protest
Final-year nursing students at Kingston University, London, voiced their frustration after being told there are no jobs for newly registered nurses at Croydon Health Services NHS Trust, where many have been on clinical placements. One student, from Sierra Leone, said she cried at the news because her dream of becoming a nurse in the UK now seems uncertain. Similar issues are reported elsewhere by newly registered nurses struggling to find employment. More than 80,000 people have signed a petition urging the government to address job barriers as NHS employers grapple with financial constraints.
