Nurse of 56 years suspended after failing to perform CPR

Experienced nurse Agnes Cobbina has been suspended by the Nursing and Midwifery Council fitness to practise (FtP) for 12 months after failing to adequately care for a critically ill care home resident in April 2020. Ms Cobbina called 999, but the ambulance was delayed by almost two hours. While waiting for the ambulance she did not perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation; failed to monitor the patient properly; and gave unclear information to emergency services. The FtP panel cited limited insight into Ms Cobbina’s failings, but acknowledged COVID-19 pandemic pressures and her previoius ‘exemplary’ record.
