Nurse struck off for lying about qualifications and experience

Tanya Nasir, who fraudulently obtained a band 7 senior neonatal nurse role and was jailed, has been struck off the nursing register by the Nursing and Midwfery Council. She had been found guilty of nine charges including fraud, and was sentenced to five years in prison in October 2024. A Fitness to Practise panel said Ms Nasir had put vulnerable patients at a ‘real risk of significant harm, which could have had catastrophic consequences’. The panel also heard that she lied about having served in the military as a nurse, listed qualifications from universities she had not attended, and listed employers who later confirmed she had either never worked there or had not been employed in the role she claimed to have worked in.
