Pay award shows we value nurses, and is just a start: Wes Streeting
Following the government’s 2025-26 NHS staff pay announcement, health and social care secretary Wes Streeting describes the 3.6% award for nursing staff as ‘a demonstration of how much we value those who care for our sick’. Writing exclusively for Nursing Standard, Mr Streeting says ‘undoing a decade and a half of disregard for nurses’ will be ‘a journey’. He details other initiatives or concerns the government plans to address, including protecting the use of the nurse title, reform of the Agenda for Change pay structure and cutting waiting lists.
