School nurse struck off for accessing patient records out of curiosity

A school nurse was struck off the nursing register after a Nursing and Midwifery Council fitness to practise hearing. Amie-Anne Yard was found to have accessed clinical records, including those of vulnerable children, her own family members and people who had died in suspicious circumstances on more than 1,500 occasions without clinical justification. The FtP found she had shown ‘a blatant disregard for patient confidentiality’. She cited personal cirumstances as mitigation and expressed remorse for her actions.
