From band 2 to 7: my nursing career since moving to the UK
A senior nurse educated overseas describes how his career has progressed since took the decision to practise in the NHS. He discusses how immigrating to the UK was an opportunity to develop in his chosen nursing specialty and discusses how he had to start in the NHS in an unregistered role. He is now at band 7 and is working to achieve his aim of becoming a matron, at band 8a of Agenda for Change. He offers practical advice to overseas-educated nurses about how to advance in their nursing career in the UK.
