The 10 Year Health Plan: what it means for your job and career
The government’s 10 Year Health Plan for England promises that new technology will liberate nursing staff from time-wasting admin. The plan seeks to retain existing nursing staff, put a halt to nursing student attrition, develop advanced nursing practice modules to reflect leadership roles, while also encouraging career progression, overhauling education and training and undertaking meaningful performance-drive appraisals. However, some question its aims and say money should be invested in other areas, doubt that the aims of reducing international nurse recruitment can be realistically achieved, while also pointing out that staff morale is at an all-time low while these changes are being put in place
