How to start on the research pillar in advanced nursing practice
Advanced practitioner (AP) roles are defined by four pillars: clinical practice, leadership and management, education and research. Research is the one pillar that APs find the most challenging and many do not know how or where to start. In March 2023, the advanced practice research toolkit was created with the aim of enabling AP nursing teams and individuals to plan activity within the research pillar of the role according to the research capabilities in the multi-professional framework for advanced practice in England. It is now at the implementation stage to see how effective it can be, and how it challenges the issues faced when bringing research into advanced roles
