Nurse who worked 55-hour week suspended for care home management failures
A nurse of 30 years has been suspended from the Nursing and Midwifery (NMC) register for misconduct after serious management failures at a care home in Aberdeenshire. Working 55-hour weeks amid underfunding, Shona Hancock neglected staff training, risk assessments and safeguarding after a care home inspection revealed her misconduct endangered vulnerable residents. Although Ms Hancock showed remorse and had a previously unblemished record, the NMC imposed a six-month suspension with an 18-month interim order pending appeal.
