Road traffic accident – would you know what to do?
Nursing students may feel ill-equipped to deal with a major incident such as a road traffic collision outside of the training or workplace setting. Experienced nurses explain how they responded when faced with these situations when off duty, and offer advice on dealing with the realities of caring for injured people. Nursing students who took part in a road accident simulation alongside paramedics and emergency services staff explain how it helped them hone their skills, including ABCDE assessments.
