Revalidation with the NMC: how to complete reflective accounts
Nurses in the UK must revalidate with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) every three years in order to stay on the professional register. Revalidation requirements include producing five written reflective accounts and having a reflective discussion. A reflective account is a written record of what you have learned from a continuing professional development (CPD) activity, patient feedback or an event or experience as part of your nursing role. We look at how to prepare for, record and submit reflective accounts, with example scenarios.
