Crackdown on fake nurses: protecting your professional identity

The nursing title will soon be better protected in law and anyone fraudulently claiming to be a nurse may face convictions and hefty fines. This will protect the profession’s integrity and reduce the risk of harm to the public. It is also hoped that it will address the misuse of the title by employers for support staff roles at bands 1-4. The move, which will begin during this parliament, comes after years of campaigning for robust protection of the title. #ProtectNurse campaigners and nurse leaders give their reactions to the decision.
