Nurse with ‘mountain of debt’ struck off for false bank shift claims

Nurse Jodie Hunter was stuck off the NMC register for claiming payments from her trust for shifts she had not worked. The sister used a colleague’s log-in details to retrospectively assign unworked bank shifts to herself. This placed the colleague, a senior ward sister, under suspicion and cost the trust almost £3,000. Ms Hunter said she had a mountain of debt and was sorry for what she had done. She has been struck off the register with an 18-month interim suspension order to allow for an appeal.
