Senior nurse suspended for taking ward medicine for own use
A senior nurse, Noah Akakpo, who took blood pressure medication from hospital supplies for personal use has been suspended from the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) register for 12 months. An NMC fitness to practise case report says Mr Akakpo asked an agency mental health nurse for the keys to the ward clinic room when they were both working a night shift in December 2020. CCTV footage allegedly shows Mr Akakpo putting a pack of medication in his trouser pocket. He denies stealing medication and says the accusation has 'destroyed my life'.
