Warning over nursing staff shortages after woman dies of sepsis

A coroner has warned that there is a risk of further deaths if the issues raised by Susan Clissold’s inquest are not addressed. Ms Clissold, who was blind and had multiple sclerosis, died of sepsis at Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital in May 2024. She had been under the home care of a district nursing team who had struggled to attend weekly visits to deliver essential wound care because of staffing issues.
