What advice would you give nurses starting out in the profession?

Our nurse columnist on the wisdom of experience passed on by fellow students and nurses in the know, and their useful advice for those starting out in the nursing profession. She asks fellow experienced nurses to offer their tips – from how to get on with your colleagues at work and who to ingratiate yourself with to how to stay one step ahead and set a good example, and the practical jokes to watch out for.
