Role clarity for nursing associates: why it matters for nurses
The blurring of roles between nursing associates and nurses has led nursing associates to demand clarification of their responsibilities, to guard against exploitation and avoid having to act beyond their pay grade. For the public, nursing itself is a vague term and people tend not to differentiate between different nursing bands. Our separate identities should be made obvious to patients and coworkers, so that crossing boundaries is exceptional rather than commonplace.
